EXPLANATION

Okay! Let's talk a littLe bit more about I was.

It's usually used to set the scene about something. For example: I was walking when / and it was raining. It was hot. There were people walking around, etc.  And we're going to use this to kind of start to tell what was happening before we get to the point of the story, which is usually going to be a fact. And it is going to start with I was, and we can do this with a lot of details. It was raining. It was hot. There were people around.  There was a lot of noise. And we'll finish with the facts.

1. I was walking to the store, and it started to rain.
    

2. I was eating a pizza, and didn't realize it had pineapples.
    

3. I was playing a song on my guitar, and I changed it some.
    

4. I was drinking some tea, and I spilled it on my shirt.
    

5. I was watching the football game, and I forgot to leave for work.
    

6. I was learning to play baseball, and I hurt my foot.
    

7. I was walking the dog, and he chased after a cat.
    

8. I was listening to the radio, and my boss turned it off.
    

9. I was driving my car, when it broke down.
    

10. I was trying something new, and broke my phone.
